Hampers gone!
Really pleased to report that Item 9.6 on last nights agenda - my motion on Removal of Christmas Gifts Hampers to Partners of Directors and Councillors was successful and the practice has now ceased.
Also really super excited to say that Item 9.5 - my motion on Active Ageing Strategy, was unanimously supported!

Christmas Hampers for Directors and Councillors partners? Really?
In today's The West Australian I have a motion coming to Council to stamp this out. It is just crazy to me that Ratepayers money is used to buy hampers up to $250 value each for partners of the Directors and Councillors.

Friends of Falkirk Park
I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to Christmas in the Park this evening by local group - Friends of Falkirk Park.
I love seeing all these great Facebook Pages and Groups for specific streets and parks in Maylands. It is such a great way for people to connect with their neighbours, share local news, issues and events.
In the comments below I will list some of the ones I know about. If you know of any other similar ones, please share! If you want to set one up for

Active Ageing/Age Friendly Strategy
These are my two motions for the Ordinary Meeting of Council this coming Tuesday.
9.6. to me is straightforward. Personally, I can see no justification for gifts to partners. In my opinion, the onus should be on the individual to purchase gifts for their partners.
9.5. I am really excited about. I have previously written about Active Ageing and its importance to communities. You can read the post on it here: http://www.catherineehrhardt.com/#!Active-Ageing/c233q/55fa429a0cf
