Vaping - Town Planning Scheme Amendment

At the last Ordinary Council Meeting (25 July 2023), an amendment to the City’s Town Planning Scheme was supported which will provide the City with more control over where smoking-related shops and smoking-related cafés set up.

I initiated the planning amendment by a notice of motion at the October 2022 Ordinary Council Meeting, and it aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment this year of $234 million towards reforms to tackle vaping.

The amendment will now go to the Western Australian Planning Commission and Minister for Planning for final approval.
