Have your Say - Skate and BMX strategy

The City is embarking on a Skate and BMX strategy to inform future development and provision of skate, scooter and BMX infrastructure across the City. Background In March 2022, Council resolved in part to consider $35,000 in the 2022-23 budget to develop a Citywide Skate and BMX Facility Strategy. The City wishes to understand participation in and demand for infrastructure for sports such as skating, scootering, BMX. To develop the strategy we are seeking input from the broader community ranging from skaters and participants, parents / grandparents, youth and school groups, sporting clubs, community groups and residents either seeking more activation within public spaces, or those who may be concerned about what might or could be developed into the future. Otium Planning Group have been appointed to work with the community and to prepare a strategy on behalf of the City. Alongside community input Otium Planning Group will use a number of inputs to investigate options and provide some recommendations to consider moving forward. How to get involved We want to hear from our community, especially young people and facility users, to share ideas about what you'd like to see in our community, and inform the design and features of these places. The City is currently seeking input from the wider community through the survey below. You can complete the survey online or find paper copies at the Civic Centre and the City’s three libraries. The survey closes 4:00pm Sunday, 14 May 2023. Otium Planning Group consultants will also be holding a number of youth workshops and a community drop-in session, anticipated some time in June. Dates and times will be communicated shortly.
