I have received the following feedback from the City in relation to the speed bumps on Seventh Avenue
“Further to your emails regarding the Traffic Calming in Seventh Avenue, Maylands (Seventh Avenue, Maylands and Two Stop Signs Knocked Over on Seventh) please note that the post traffic treatment counts undertaken did not indicate any speeding issues.

Between Coode St & Bridge 46 km/hr 3708
Between Coode St & Carrington St 47 km/hr 2064
These counts were done subsequent to the Seventh and Third Avenue bridgeworks and the traffic volume is also in line with its road hierarchy classification.
Granted some motorcyclists and trucks can drive between the speed cushions, it is unlikely the reason the stop signs were hit.
It should be noted that these cushions are also a preferred treatment for ambulances compared to speed plateaus.
The traffic improvement works which include speed cushions and raised pavement at the intersection of Coode Street/Seventh Avenue were installed in accordance with Council's resolution of its Ordinary Council Meeting of 25 August 2015, Item 12.1.2.
Notwithstanding the above, another traffic count to confirm if there have been any changes to the traffic behaviour on this road will be set out. Even though these treatments were installed as a permanent fixture, they can be removed or modified easily.”
The traffic count has concluded, but I do not know as yet what the count was.
I’m pleased to report that new street seating has been installed along Eighth Avenue. Previously there were only 2 benches on the entire street, and now there are 12 new seats along the street. An armchair style has been selected to assist our seniors and they are located outside of the Chemist and Doctors Surgery, as well as next to the Taxi rank.
New planter boxes for trees, and some for low growing greenery, will be installed very soon. This will be a 2 stage process as there are planters for both the Verge as well as the centre islands.
I’d like to congratulate our town sites Place Manager, Emma, on doing a great job and working well with our community and local businesses.
In February 2019 the City will be holding a Laneway Festival for our South Ward event. I’m very keen to see more activation of our laneways, and an event is always a good place to start!
Last year was the very successful Jazz in the Park at Bardon Park.
Later this year the City of Bayswater will be inviting community to have their say in the development of its 2019/20 operating budget. The community will be invited to prioritise all of the City's services using an online budget allocator tool. Participants will be asked to increase, decrease, or no make change to each of the City's current service areas, and balance the cost implications of each decision. From here, a community panel will be formed to deliberate on the budget in more detail. Council will then consider recommendations from the panel in putting together its 2019/20 budget.
Over the last 3 weeks I have been receiving numerous complaints of Anti-social, aggressive, and domestic violence behaviour from the Greenslade Lane area. I have written to the Minister for Police, Michelle Roberts, and requested attendance from the WA Police Force Aboriginal and Community Diversity Unit.
