Councillor Column - Bayswater Train Station online survey

Work on the WA State Government's $2 billion Forrestfield Airport Link will begin this year and will open Perth's eastern suburbs to the rail network for the first time.

To limit the impact above ground part of the new train line will make use of underground tunnels from near Bayswater train station (west of Guildford Road). This tunnel will go under the Swan River, to the airport and out to Forrestfield.

This rail line is scheduled to open in 2020 and will benefit local residents and businesses. The City and its residents have been advocating for an upgrade to the Bayswater rail station as part of the Forrestfield Airport Link for some time.

As a result of ongoing negotiations the WA Minister for Transport, Hon. Dean Nalder, has requested the City of Bayswater submit its top 10 funding priorities for upgrading the Bayswater Train Station.

The City is inviting residents to participate in a survey to provide their opinion on what these top 10 funding priorities should be. Residents can submit their views via an online survey before 5pm on Friday, June 17.

The document can be accessed either at the City's homepage http://engage.bayswater.wa.gov.au/ or by visiting the following link http://goo.gl/EH20yT
